Karen Ponton
Growing up as the middle child in a large family, Karen was shy but determined. Initially, she considered following her father’s career as a firefighter and spent one season with Cal Fire. That particular summer set acreage records in the California foothills for wild fires and Karen found herself faced with a dilemma that would forever change her life. Saving lives or changing lives. She chose law as a way to make a difference on a broader level and specialized in Workers’ Compensation as a way to contribute to one of the fastest paced ever changing areas of law. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree from UCLA, she attended McGeorge School of Law and received her Juris Doctorate degree. She has been a member of the California State Bar since 1987.
Karen has been with the firm since 1988 and has practiced in the field of workers’ compensation with a special emphasis on public entities and self insured employers. Her dedication to following the law and commitment to customer service is what sets Karen apart and her clients find her to be someone of strong integrity and values.
Outside of work Karen has been a member of several teams setting up and working in medical clinics in remote, under served communities in South America. She has traveled extensively, has a wonderful sense of adventure and loves animals. Her life experiences have prepared for anything which is extremely useful in adapting to the unforeseen circumstances that plague many a case.
